How to use the Shield app?

The Shield app on your computer is where you check your protection status, run a scan, and get help from a family member if you ever need it.

Status

Status is what you see when you open the app. It tells you in plain language whether your computer is protected right now, along with a quick action to run a check whenever you'd like and a rundown of which protection features are on.

Scan

Scan lets you check your computer for threats whenever you want. Choose a quick scan for a fast check, a full scan for a deep check of your whole device, or a custom scan if you just want to check specific files or folders.

Family Support

If your Guardian is helping you set up Family Support, this is where you turn it on. Turning it on lets your chosen family member look at your screen with you when you need help, but nobody gets in unless you tap Allow, every single time, and you can stop the session anytime. This tab only appears on Family Edition.

Activity

Activity is a plain-language history of what Shield has done for you, like a scam site it blocked or a scan it completed. Repeated events are grouped together so you're not scrolling through duplicates.

Settings

Settings is where you adjust how the app looks, switch its language, check which version you're running, and see when your subscription expires.
