Splashtop Shield is a security app that quietly protects your computer from viruses, scams, and other online threats. If you're on Family Lite or Family Edition, it also lets you keep an eye on your whole family's devices from one place, so you can worry less and feel confident everyone's covered.
What Shield does
Once it's installed, Shield watches over your device in the background. It scans files for viruses automatically, blocks scam and phishing websites before you can click into them, and keeps itself up to date so you're always covered against new threats.
When something needs your attention, like a scan finding a threat or a device needing an update, Shield lets you know in plain language and, whenever it can, takes care of it automatically.
Individual, Family Lite, or Family
Shield comes in three plans. Individual protects up to two of your own devices. Family Lite and Family both add a Guardian dashboard so you can see the protection status of everyone in your family, get notified if someone needs help, and offer remote help when a device needs attention. Family Lite covers up to 5 devices, and Family covers up to 10.
Which Shield plan is right for you? walks through the differences in more detail.
How Shield works day to day
Most of the time, there's nothing for you to do. Shield runs quietly, checks in on its own schedule, and only surfaces something when it's genuinely worth your attention. You can open the app or your online dashboard anytime to see your protection status, run a scan, or check what Shield has done recently.
Getting started
Setting up Shield takes just a few minutes:
- Create your Shield account.
- Install Shield on your device.
- If you're on Family Lite or Family Edition, invite your family members so their devices are protected too.
That's it. Once it's running, Shield takes care of the rest, so you can get back to what matters and trust that we've got this covered.
