A renewal usually fails because of an issue with your card, like it expiring or being declined by your bank.
What this means
Shield tries to charge your payment method automatically when your subscription renews. If that charge doesn't go through, your protection isn't interrupted right away. You get a 7-day grace period to update your payment method before protection pauses.
Steps
- Go to Subscription in your dashboard and check for a payment notice.
- Click Manage to open the billing portal.
- Under Payment method, add a new card or update your existing one.
- Once your new payment method is saved, Shield automatically tries the charge again.
What to expect
Once the charge succeeds, your subscription renews and you'll get a confirmation. As long as it's resolved within the 7-day grace period, your protection is never interrupted.
If this didn't fix it
If the grace period ran out before you fixed it, your subscription has already ended, not just paused. Your Subscription page will show that you're not on an active plan, though any time already paid for continues until it runs out. To turn protection back on, go to Subscription and click Subscribe on the plan you want. Still stuck? Contact our support team.
