You don't need a password to sign in to Shield. A one-time code sent to your email is the recommended way, and you can also set up a password as a backup if you'd rather.
What this means
Every time you sign in with a one-time code, Shield confirms it's really you by sending a fresh code to your email, which works like a built-in second layer of security. Setting up a password is optional; it just gives you another way to sign in.
Steps
- Sign in to your Shield dashboard and go to Settings.
- Under Account, find Password and click Set up.
- Enter and confirm your new password.
What to expect
You can now sign in with either your password or a one-time code, whichever you prefer. If you ever forget your password, you can still sign in with a one-time code and set a new one from Settings; there's no separate password reset process to worry about.
